TV News Broadcast Module – Week 2

9th March 2026

Week 2 of the TV News Module saw us in a practical session using lights, camera and action with all of the Digital Media Production team working together with tutor, Liam, on building skills which will reinforce the quality of our productions.

To be honest, while I am generally quite a cluttered person, I possibly prefer a minimalist approach when it comes to equipment. I suspect I may be either 1. Lazy or 2. Lazy. There is potentially a third option, that I am resisting change and feel a little overwhelmed by things I do not properly understand.

This is a really timely reminder of my personal learning manfiesto to :

Learn with courage and curiosity

Resilience and Growth and especially …

Community and Collaboration:

It was great to see Ben back in the class after a little break – and the day before this photo was taken, he had passed his driving test. He’s kindly agreed to join the project team with Iva, Quinn and myself on our documentary and it’s great to have him on board. I think he will possibly focus on the sound aspect of our documentary project.

In addition to lighting, we also looked at setting the scene.

Wired for sound – boom!

Kyle and Ro discuss their passion for buses and the Tiger pass.

Kennedy is a very ABYL student.

It has been really helpful to me that Liam has tailored this module to support my learning needs around video making and that this session was designed to create video and audio assets which will be used in future weeks to practice the use of editing software.
